Working part-time? Partial benefits
Wyoming disregards part of what you earn in a week before reducing your benefit. Estimate what a part-time week leaves you with:
- Disregard: 0.5 × WBA $400.00 = $200.00
- Countable earnings: $150.00 − $200.00 = $0.00
- Payable: WBA $400.00 − $0.00 = $400.00
How long benefits can last
Up to 26 weeks; total benefits are W.S. 27-3-304: 'the maximum amount of benefits payable to any eligible individual in a benefit year shall not exceed twenty-six (26) times his weekly benefit or thirty percent (30%) of his wages payable for insured work in his base period, whichever is less. This amount shall be computed to the next higher multiple of his weekly benefit.' DWS FAQ: 'You can receive full unemployment benefits for up to 26 weeks during your benefit year.'
Who qualifies for benefits in Wyoming
W.S. 27-3-306(d): the claimant must have earned base-period wages for insured work 'of not less than eight percent (8%) of the statewide average annual wage computed under W.S. 27-3-303(a) rounded to the lowest fifty dollars ($50.00)', wages 'of one and four-tenths (1.4) times the high quarter earnings in his base period', and, after a prior benefit year, 'not less than eight (8) times the weekly benefit amount of his current claim'. The dollar equivalent of the 8%-of-statewide-average-annual-wage test is not published on any DWS page opened, so no numeric floor is encoded.
Meeting the wage test is not the same as being approved: Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, Unemployment Insurance Division also rules on the reason for the separation and on your availability for work each week.
