Working part-time? Partial benefits

Florida disregards part of what you earn in a week before reducing your benefit. Estimate what a part-time week leaves you with:

Florida uses a partial-benefit rule this calculator does not compute: Section 443.111(3), F.S.: the part of earned income for the week 'in excess of 8 times the federal hourly minimum wage' is deducted from the weekly benefit amount. The agency FAQ adds: if you worked full time or made more than $275 (the maximum WBA) before taxes that week, do not request benefits for that week. How long benefits can last

Currently up to 12 weeks — this state ties duration to its unemployment rate: FloridaCommerce claimant FAQ: '2025 and 2026 claim maximums: 12 weeks duration; Maximum Benefit Amount (MBA): $3300.' Statutory schedule (s. 443.111, F.S.): 12 weeks when the state's average unemployment rate (third calendar quarter of the prior year) is at or below 5%, plus one additional week for each 0.5% increment above 5%, up to a maximum of 23 weeks at 10.5% or above. MBA is the lesser of 25% of total base-period wages (total wages divided by 4) or the yearly maximum ($3,300 for 2026 claims).

Who qualifies for benefits in Florida

Severance and your claim

FL DOR employer guide RT-800001: a claimant may be disqualified when 'receiving wages in lieu of notice or severance pay applicable to a claim week, which is equal to or greater than the claimant's weekly benefit amount.' Section 443.101(3)(b), F.S.: the number of weeks severance disqualifies equals the severance amount divided by the claimant's average weekly wage from the paying employer, rounded down, beginning with the week of separation; if the allocated amount is less than the weekly benefit, reduced benefits are paid for that week.
