Schedule H

The form household employers use to report nanny taxes with their own tax return.

Schedule H (Form 1040) reports household employment taxes — Social Security, Medicare, and federal unemployment tax on wages paid to a nanny, caregiver, or housekeeper. It is filed with your personal return rather than as a business filing, which is what makes household employment administratively lighter than running payroll for a company. Employers who cross the thresholds also need a federal EIN, and generally register with their state for unemployment tax and new-hire reporting.
