Monetary determination

The letter a state sends after you file, showing the wages on record and the benefit they produce.

A monetary determination lists the base-period wages each employer reported, the weekly benefit amount those wages produce, and the maximum total payable on the claim. It is a monetary calculation only — it does not decide eligibility, which turns separately on why the job ended and on ongoing work-search requirements. If an employer's wages are missing or wrong, the letter explains how to request a recalculation, and there is a deadline for doing so.
